Why You Must Use Pinterest For Your Business

Pinterest is underutilized as a marketing tool for business. Pinterest is for more than just party planning and home decor. If you have a blog, you should seriously consider using Pinterest to attract your ideal clients into your business.

Courtney helps her clients develop engaging content and promote that content in a visually engaging way on Pinterest.

She started her career as a teacher. With the birth of her third child she and her husband, who is also an entrepreneur, made the decision to try to live on one income so Courtney could be more available for the kids.

It didn’t take long before Courtney found herself creating crafts and activities to do with her young children. She started a blog to help share her activities with other moms on the hunt for fun and educational activities and crafts to do with their own kids.

Courtney’s blog posts were a hit and she was soon discovered by a few influencers who hired her to write posts for their blogs. Courtney helped them grow their audience and grow their reach.

Then, she discovered Pinterest!

Courtney was excited that she was able to simply create a pin and use that pin to drive traffic to her blog.

In our interview, Courtney stressed the importance of continuous learning and growing. She is currently working on her own course to help teach others what she has learned about content creation and how to leverage Pinterest and their blog to grow their business.

Pinterest is underutilized as a marketing tool!

Courtney shared her top 3 reasons to use Pinterest for your business:

  1. Pinterest is free to use. And because it is a search engine and not a social media site, you will get free traffic over and over again as long as you are creating valuable content on the other side of a captivating pin image. Did you catch that? Free traffic generation!
  2. Pinterest will help you expand your reach. Not just by getting additional traffic to your website, but also farther reach. You can post the same content to your own board, group boards and Tailwind tribes.
  3. Pinterest helps you bring people into your world when they are actively  looking for what you offer. This is leveraged powerfully for gaining followers, growing your email list and making sales!

Pinterest is a visual search engine.

Like Google, people use Pinterest to find what they are looking for. Tips for everything from cleaning, party planning, crafts, business branding, marketing strategies, color coordination, podcasting tips and so much more!!!

The goal is to show up when someone searches for that thing you do!!

People love the visual aspect of Pinterest and are drawn to the images.

Oh, and the Pinterest search bar will become your best friend!

Take time to research keywords related to your blog posts and business.

Use the long tail keywords (the additional words that Pinterest suggests either in the auto-fill or the colored tiles below the search bar) to help you key in on what people are actually looking for!

There are a few tools that you can use to help your performance on Pinterest.

Social Warfare

Social Warfare is a plugin available for WordPress websites that ensures your exact description and keywords are used when someone pins your blog post. There is a free and paid version of the plugin.

To use it, you upload the pin images that you created. I use Canva to create my pin images. Add your description.

Don’t leave it to the Pinner to describe your content. They may not use the keywords you want leaving your pin falling flat for their followers. Most people just hit pin and save, which could leave the description completely blank.

With Social Warfare, you are in complete control of not only the images from your blog post that you want available for pinning, but also how your pin is described.

Tailwind: This a scheduling software for Instagram and Pinterest. Use this tool to make your life easier. Set aside time each week to add new pins, check analytics on your existing pins, and re-pin blog posts that are performing well.

Tailwind helps you keep your pins and boards fresh and in front of your audience based on when they are most active on Pinterest.

It also provides tons of analytics for you, too! So you can really design a Pinterest strategy that is best for you and your business.

Tip: When using the analytics in Tailwind, wait at least 30 days from the date you first pinned a specific blog post to review the analytics. That way you have plenty of data to look at!

With Pinterest, you get the advantage over Facebook and Instagram because you are not dependent on the content and your follower being on the same place at the same time.

The advantage is that people are searching for your specific content and when you use the right keywords, your pin will show up in the feed!
